Over 152,000,000 blogs have been created, but how many qualify to be termed as a professional blog? Very few because they do not have all the features, structure or content that a professional blog should have.  Anybody can create a blog but that doesn’t make them qualified bloggers.  This is the reason why only less than 10% of the blogs make money.

Requirements for creating a professional blog.

1.      Domain name.

A domain name is a unique address of your blog that can be users use to access your website with.

A professional blog should have a unique domain name that reflects the niche or the contents written in it.

The address must be short and easy to remember to make it easy for your readers to return back to your website. A long domain name can be hard to remember.

In addition, a domain with special characters on it makes it even more difficult to remember hence a domain should be simple and clear.

2.    Hosting provider.

After getting a unique domain name for your blog the next step is to find a hosting provider. A professional blog needs to have a reliable hosting provider with excellent customer care support.

Choose a host that will ensure your blog has 99.9% uptime and faster speeds. A bad host provider can affect negatively to the rankings of your website. It is important to choose the best provider if possible because that is what professionals do.

3.    Content Management System (CMS).

This is a software that allows you to create and edit contents to your blog. Some of the most common cms include; WordPress, blogger, Drupal and Joomla.  WordPress is the best blogging platform for professionals since it comes with so many free and paid themes that bloggers can choose from. It comes with so many plugins that help bloggers concentrate on producing contents. Other systems are good too but not as good as WordPress.

4.    Theme.

This is the step where most bloggers start getting confused. WordPress and blogger has thousands of free and paid themes which makes it difficult for bloggers to choose the best. The type of theme that you choose also affects the quality of your blog.  If you want a quality blog then go for paid theme. These premium themes contain more features and get updated often than the free themes. They also give your website a great professional look. Be careful when choosing a premium theme because some have the same features with the free themes. A professional blog should have theme that reflects its niche and one that does not slow down the site.

5.    Content.

A professional blog should have rich content that attracts readers. The content should be exciting to read so that readers can return back again and again for more. Every blogger should know their tone and able to connect with their readers. The content should be fresh and unique. The content should be able to stand out from the rest.

6.    Marketing.

Blogging is not all about creating contents alone because marketing is also important too. What is the point of creating content that is not read? Furthermore, Your marketing skills also determine the success of your blog. With over two million blog post created every day only a few get readers.
