5G network features in 2020: Updated

The 5G network is the fifth generation of cellular technology, which enhances speed, the responsiveness of wireless networks and coverage. It is 10 to 100 times faster than any existing typical cellular connection, even faster than the fiber optic cable itself. In normal conditions, you will be able to download Game Of Thrones in a matter of seconds.

Main 5G network Features

One of the major benefits of 5g is low latency.  This is the response time between clicking on a link and initiating of streaming a video on your phone, a request is first sent to the network, then it responds by delivering you the webpage or the video contents.

That lag time lasts around 20 milliseconds within other networks such as 4g and 3g. With 5G, the latency is reduced to as 1 millisecond.

This responsiveness is important for things like playing a heavy video game in virtual reality or for a doctor in San Francisco to control a pair of machines to perform a procedure in New York. The virtually lag-free network is going to pave way for self-driving cars, rockets, and planes

How does it work?

5G started with the super-high-frequency spectrum, this has a shorter range but very huge capacity. However, looking at the range and interference issues, the Telco carriers have started using lower-frequency spectra like the one used by other networks, to boost it covers greater distances obstructions such as walls and trees.

Due to the widespread use of lower- band spectrum AT&T and T-Mobile, for instance, will roll out the 5g network in this second quarter of 2019.

The result is that the insane speeds of up to 10 gigabytes per second, as most companies won’t be the case, but it will still be a big boost from the usual 4G LTE network.

Are there other benefits?

The 5G network is architecture to connect a far number of devices than other traditional cellular networks. In addition, 5G has as the ability to power multiple devices around you

The 5G network was initially built to handle equipment used by governments and businesses, such as ATMs and farm equipment. Apart from speed, it is also designed to work uniquely on connected products that don’t need a constant connection, for example, a fertilizer sensor.

When to expect 5G?

Verizon was the first company to launch the first 5G service in the world back in October 2018. However, A specialist or a network installer has to put in special devices that can pick up the 5G signals and turn that into a Wi-Fi connection at home for other devices to access it.  However, there is a dispute claim from competitors that it doesn’t qualify to be called 5G since it offered up to 1-gigabyte per second just

Towards the end of December, AT&T was turning on its mobile 5G network in a dozen cities, and more specifically in “dense urban and high-traffic areas.” Take note, Verizon: AT&T boasts to be the pioneer companies in the US to offer a mobile 5G device commercially. It plans to boost its coverage more than 20 cities in 2019
